Hello everybody. My name is Alice and I
am a writer.
I absolutely love writing, I
always have, and I’ve wanted to start a blog for a really long time. But I’ve had
no idea what to write about. So eventually I decided to start a blog about
writing! I recently attended Emily Benet’s fantastic lecture on blogging at UEA
and she advised us not to start a blog about writing (oops). But writing is the
only consistent thing in my life that I would love to write about on a weekly
basis.
My basic intention with this blog
is to offer useful tips and advice on creative writing methods, how to get
inspired etc. I know there are thousands of ‘helpful creative writing prompts’ websites
online but, if you’re anything like me, you won’t find them at all helpful.
I don’t pretend to be an expert. But I am
going into my third year of the creative writing course at UEA and I’m also on
the committee for the Creative Writing Society for which a group of us host
creative writing workshops twice a week. So, I have access to loads of great
writing tips. And if I come across any methods that have really helped me out I
will post them here.
I might also use this space to
ask for advice on any writing I’m I currently working on or to moan about any
big problems that have me stumped and I invite my followers (fingers crossed
that I get followers!) to do the same.
This is the first blog I have
ever attempted. So you might need to give me a while to find my feet.
I don’t know what this blog will turn in to.
It might be a list of creative writing tips. It might be ramblings about
anecdotes that have inspired me to write or just about creative writing in
general. Or it might be a forum for creative writers to swap ideas. But,
whatever this blog turns into, I ask you to bear with me and not give up on me
too quickly.
So, if I’m following Emily
Benet’s advice on how to create a good blog, I’ve reached my 300-500 word
limit. Which means I don’t have space for any creative writing tips today.
However, I will be back very soon
for my very first (proper) entry. So please please check it out!
Thanks for reading.
